News Release - Swift Current Long-Term Care Centre Joins List of P3 Projects Planned in Saskatchewan
The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) congratulates the Government of Saskatchewan upon the announcement of the Swift Current Long-Term Care Centre to be procured as a public-private partnership (P3).
The new 225-bed long-term care facility will be developed under a design-build-finance-maintain model and located adjacent to the regional hospital in Swift Current. The facility will remain publicly owned and health region staff will provide services to residents. The procurement process for the private partner is expected to start in mid-August.
SaskBuilds, a Crown corporation established in 2012 to provide advice and recommendations for advancing major infrastructure projects through innovative approaches and alternative financing models, will facilitate the procurement process for the Government of Saskatchewan and Cypress Health Region.
The Province announced two other projects in the March 2013 budget being considered for the P3 approach – the Regina Bypass and the North Battleford Hospital. They will join 198 other P3 projects currently in procurement, under construction or in operation across the country worth more than $60 billion.
