CCPPP Candid Conversations: The Rising Costs of Doing Business — Inflation
Wednesday, May 11, 2022 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (EDT)
Make plans to join us for our upcoming two-part Candid Conversations' Series on The Rising Costs of Doing Business.
Building critical infrastructure is getting more expensive — for everyone. In this two-part series, CCPPP will speak with experts across Canada on how they’re tackling inflation and the crippling costs and lost time associated with labour and material shortages. These provocative, members-only discussions will delve into the nitty gritty of the issues and share stories on how governments and the private sector can work together to mitigate these growing risks in P3s.
Our first panel discussion on Wednesday, May 11 will examine inflation and its current and future impact on P3s. Market volatility and other factors are making it next to impossible for contractors to price inflation accurately in job estimates. When it comes to P3s with their fixed price contracts, the situation is even trickier. How can governments and the private sector work together to ensure contracts are fair, flexible and deliver the best value for taxpayers in a time of surging costs and uncertainty?
The inflation discussion will be moderated by Jensen Clarke, Director, Infrastructure Investments, Fengate Asset Management and include experts Jason Andraza, District Construction Risk Manager, PCL Constructors Canada Inc. (Toronto), and Sahil Shoor, Partner, Gowling WLG LLP.
Our second panel in September 2022 (Date TBC) will explore how an aging workforce and ongoing interruptions affecting the global supply chain from the pandemic and the current war in Ukraine are putting the squeeze on budgets and timelines for projects.
Panellists for this two-part series will be announced in the coming days. If you’re interested in taking part as a speaker, please contact [email protected]
As always, members are encouraged to ask questions of our guest speakers! To ensure a free flow of conversation, ideas and opinions, CCPPP will not be recording these Candid Conversations, so we encourage you to join us on both dates.
