CCPPP Candid Conversations: Excessive Interest and Financing Limitations (EIFEL)

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM (ET)
Make plans to join us for our upcoming Candid Conversation on Excessive Interest and Financing Limitations (EIFEL). This will provide the opportunity to delve more deeply into the issues with our panel of experts who were part of an ad hoc committee that came together to help the Council create the two submissions it has made to the Government of Canada on the proposed tax legislation. We'll focus on what EIFEL is, why the P3 industry should be concerned and what the Council is doing to help protect the sector.

As currently drafted, the Council is concerned the new rules will have a significant negative impact on current and future P3s. With more than 300 P3 projects currently in various phases across Canada, the Council estimates more than $100 billion of existing long-term project debt could be adversely affected by this proposal.

The EIFEL discussion will be moderated by Lisa Mitchell, CCPPP's President and CEO, and include experts Hetal Kotecha, Partner, BDO Canada LLP, and John J. Tobin, Partner, Torys LLP.

The Council continues to work with its members and government officials to ensure the industry is protected. At this time, it is unclear what the Canadian government's timeline is for tabling the legislation.
As always, members are encouraged to ask questions of our guest speakers! To ensure a free flow of conversation, ideas and opinions, CCPPP will not be recording this Candid Conversations, so we encourage you to join us.
