Infrastructure Ontario 2019 Market Update Unveils 32 Projects Worth More than $65 Billion

Today, Ontario Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott unveiled a pipeline of 32 public infrastructure projects worth in excess of $65 billion at a luncheon hosted by CCPPP. This is the largest commitment to P3 infrastructure in the province’s history.

Ten of these projects are currently in procurement and 22 more are in the pre-transaction phase. They include subways, LRTs, GO transit projects, hospitals and community safety facilities. There are also 11 projects “in planning.”

Minister Scott and Ehren Cory, President and CEO of Infrastructure Ontario, also announced the province will increase the frequency of future market updates, with major updates in the spring and autumn.

“The Infrastructure Ontario Market Update is an important and very welcome event for everyone involved in infrastructure,” said Mark Romoff, President and CEO of CCPPP.

“Ontario is the largest infrastructure market in Canada and well beyond — and the one with the most P3s in operation and under construction. What it does and how it does it is closely watched across the country and globally.

“There is great diversity in the 32 projects announced today, with broad appeal for companies active in this sector,” Romoff said. “It’s also wonderful to see the province continue to use the P3 model for delivering these critically important projects in communities across Ontario.”
